My microwave from college finally broke, so I cashed in my canadian tire money today. Took a picture to celebrate the occasion.

So I was talking to Steph on the phone and idly watching a moth (Cosmia elisae?) on my window. I was staring pretty intently at it, trying to figure out if it was on the outside of the screen trying to get in or if it was trapped between the screen and the window trying to get out. Then “WHOA!” a big bluejay slammed into the screen in an attack on the moth. Claws outstretched like the picture in your head of an eagle the instant before it grabs a snake, beak pecking directly into the body of the moth. I guess the fact that the moth is still wandering around in there, definitively shows he’s trapped inside and not out. I just about blew steph’s ear out over the phone in my excitement at the sudden arrival of an unexpected pretty bird a meter away from my face.

Super cool little moment.

Sometimes those prison walls make a good shield for an ugly butterfly.
