24″ in portrait mode
So, we were off in Fairmont Hot Springs for the week thanks to a week of timeshare gift from mom n’ dad. Swam and golfed and hiked and checked out all the little towns and took pictures of the local fauna and all that sorta mountainy stuff. I’m sure I’ll upload some pictures eventually. (Incidentally, there’s a cluster of alpine lakes up on top of the mountain just outside of Radium called “Welsh Lakes” if anyone wants to head back out that way sometime and hike up there with me that’d be rad.)
Anyway, good times were had on the cheap. I sorta budgeted to spend a lot more cash than we ended up spending so I decided to finally bite the bullet on a big ol’ 24″ external monitor with the remainder (plus a little bit).

“oh dear oh dear oh dear” sez I, “This monitor looks perfect except it doesn’t do portrait rotation(when you rotate the screen 90 degrees clockwise so it can fit a whole newspaper page) I will go home and think about it, because adding a different VESA mount plus the 200×100 adapter will be over $100″
research… research… research…
“Awesome, there’s a locking screw that you can take out of the stand and it does portrait! (even if the built-in onscreen adjustment menus don’t rotate with it.)”
Yeah, I know you don’t really care, but I’m super excited to finally be able to work on a comic panel in detail on one screen while previewing the full page on the other again. (Photos will come tomorrow.)
