Dead-eye Dick’s Hunting Club

[image:446:r] The other day, I went up to the cabin with Dad, uncle Dennis, and Grandpa for a little Cross Country Skiing. Dad was heading off to a Pheasant hunting tournament, so he was showing off the shirt he made complete with 100% real buckshot holes. awesome.

Farmers are Weird

[image:445:l] One interesting thing about living out here in a rural community, Peaveymart. Peavey mart’s sortof a Mark’s work warehouse crossed with canadian tire, but with farming gear too. So you can buy Electric fences and salt licks and cattle prods. This item in the flyer caught my eye today. Evidently it’s for aiding in the calving process (that’s birthin’ up some baby cows to you city slickers) But I can’t imagine how this contraption works. I should invent a Baby human puller, but since most folks don’t share my distaste for babies, they probably wouldn’t buy my carefully sharpened alligator clips attached to a winch.

Also of note, “Oral Calf Feeder: Collapsible 2.5 litre bag with special rigid probe. Three track water tight closure, aids easy filling. Rigid top portion with holes for easy handling or hanging. On/off flow clamp. Special cold temperature resistant plastic will not crack. Round ball-shaped end aids proper placement. Graduated marking both in litres and quarts.” I’m not sure why it was necessary to mark it an “Oral” Calf feeder, But since I can only think of one other orifice that one might shove food into, I wonder what the “Special Rigid probe” and “Round ball-shaped end (that) aids in proper placement” is all about?

Cartoons

[thumb:444:l] So, in the last couple days, a few people have asked me about the Muhammad cartoon controversy, even though the fire seems to be dying down, and it happened weeks ago. I guess I haven’t addressed it on my blog, so I’ll post about it here for the sake of weighing in. As if you really had to ask what my opinion is. I’ll just say the cartoon I linked to is totally great. I’m kinda disappointed in our own media, because most people I’ve talked to haven’t seen the cartoon these people deemed heinous enough to blow up some embassies over.

http://pics.livejournal.com/weev/gallery/000038dy?page=1 Thanks, internet. The one with the bomb head’s the original, the rest are follow-ups.

Candy Angel

Filed under: Uncategorized — dean @ 7:56 pm

So I was out at mom n’ dad’s and I saw this.

I’m pretty sure my brother probably stuffed the angel in there at some point, likely upside down, as a gag. Then, mom just said “hey that’s kind of cool” and so it stayed.

iPod Nano

[image:435:l]So what I really want to know about the iPod nano, (and apple’s site doesn’t explain this.) What technology are they using to make it turn into a pencil when you rotate it 180 degrees? They’re amazing engineers down there in cupertino.
