Third in the Process.
Madrox 3

if you go forward and back through the images he sorta mutates and does a little dance.

Still more to come. More grotesque mutations for the ‘morrow.

Here’s the company that makes that banjo by the way. http://www.deanguitars.com/
They’re still the best even though they have a lame flash intro with bimbo models… right? RIGHT?

Oh crap he’s gone all spiritual on us again…

So the discussion of religion came up at the table while I was out for lunch the other day.

No, no arguments ensued. As long as you’re not going out of your way to inconvenience me, I don’t give a good god damn jesus joseph mary buddah allah cabbala ramalama shimmy shimmy coco bop what you believe in that regard. But I have my own beliefs that i tend not to volunteer (in detail anway) to others unless they really pry. Ask me about it sometime pointedly when we’ve got time to spare. I don’t mind telling you but you’ll have to “really pry”. (hint: yay evolution, boo intelligent design.) Anyway, after sitting quietly for a long while while the talk turned to the afterlife. I finally spoke up and said,
“I don’t have anything interesting to contribute to these conversations normally. but if it’s not all over when I’m dead I’ll be pretty pissed off.”

I’d be pretty miserable in heaven. Sure I’d be happy for awhile. I could learn everything there was to learn in heaven’s library, and maybe decide I’ve finally mastered all those zany instruments and artsy things. But Eternity is eternity. Eventually I’d end up laying on the cloud floor poking famous people with a straightened out halo as they fluttered by, and that’s probably only going to be good for what? an aeon or four?

And it goes without saying I’d be double miserable anywhere else, so screw that noise.

The sequel rarely tops the original.

Multiple man

I’ve managed to suck a little more soul and a lot more life out of the painting since last we met.

Soon I will have my cake.

Banjo

Dave says we’re going to burning man next year whether I want to or not. Therefor, I need to learn to play the banjo before we go. I wasn’t sure I wanted to learn banjo at first, then he found one called the “Dean BW6 Backwoods 6-String Banjo” a hybrid banjo that has standard guitar tuning. That’s all fine and good, but check the logo out!

I am totally buying a banjo… sometime.

Dave says if I haven’t bought one before next paycheck, I’m getting paid in banjo.

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Yesterday, for the first time, I saw Big bird sing the alphabet song. The one where he pronounces every letter in the alphabet as though it were all one 26 letter long word.

The pronunciation went something like;
Ab-kuh-def-gee-jeckle-muh-nop-quer-stew-vuh-weks-is

Laughed so hard I cried. Especially since one of the choral elements was “isn’t that QR?” Sesame street was so great.

Astar the Robot

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Dean Welsh @ 7:18 pm

So I was talking to a friend of my brother’s who sees a lot of small bands (because he’s in one.) He was telling me about one group called “I can put my arm back on” and the gag is they come out in t-shirts with only one sleeve.

Now all the 20-30 something canadians are laughing and the americans are scratching their heads.
Meet Astar http://www.waramps.ca/playsafe/astar.html The War Amps of Canada had/have a program called “Playsafe” that attempts to teach kids to be aware of dangers in their immediate environment. Really all anyone my age knows about it what they learned from the 30 second Public service announcement ad they’d air during saturday morning cartoons.

Picture a rusty colored tunnel with buzzsaws periodically sweeping out of the walls. Our hero astar is climbing around spider-man style. Suddenly he grabs his wrist deliberately moves his shoulder into the path of one of the buzzsaws, severing his arm. He stands up, Reattaches his arm with a click, shows that it’s working fine and says “I am ASTAR, a robot. I can put my arm back on. You can’t. So Playsafe.” and that’s the end of the commercial.

When I was a kid I mostly thought
A) I wonder where I can find that tunnel full of Buzzsaws.
B) I can’t put astar’s arm back on? Why would I want to? I mean the idiot stuck it in front of a buzzsaw.
C) Is he just rubbing it in to your every day average amutee that their arms are forever lost?
D) What the hell is “playsafe” supposed to mean?

But it’s a commercial that everyone remembers because it looked so neat and was so bizarre. They’ve since updated ASTAR and made him a CG 3D thing. He doesn’t look nearly as cool now, so I think the kids of this generation are missing out on his important message of self-mutilation.

Philosophy

If a tree falls in the woods and there’s no one there to hear it except an amputee with an uncontrollable urge to applaud…

Would it be rude of me to laugh?
